Got stuck in Medicine Hat for a day. The spot is quite good, lots of room to pull over and cars are going slow. Got a ride to Dunmore the first day, where I got stuck and had to hitch back. Day 2 was the lucky one, after 1h wait a guy took me all the way to Manitoba. Don't give up!―Anonymous

Busy yet remote gas station, trucks can stop here too. Got picked up after 20min after asking around. As of 09/25, Flix Buses stop here of the way to Medicine Hat and Edmonton, if you run out of luck.―Anonymous

Good spot to go west from Medicine Hat. Right past the coffee stops, and after traffic lights, uphill, with wide shoulders. Took me 15 minutes with a sign.―Anonymous

Waited for 4 hours, no ride. Clear day, clear spot just after traffic lights with ample room to pull over, yet no luck. Had to move faster so went and bought a bus ticket―Anonymous

They just put in an overpass here. May make it better. Like most of the trans-Can it's hit or miss. The people around here can be kind of funny. I was flipped of by an old lady that could barely see over the steering wheel.―Fish Soup

The off-ramps for either direction are probably your best bet when trying to hitchhike through Medicine Hat. I have seen a few folks waiting here but I sure wouldn't―Anonymous

There is a gas station here, access to city transit, and it's safe and pretty visible. The hwy is a little quieter then the trans-Can but people are more likely to stop.―Anonymous

Standing at traffic light is the best option.―DSLR

WB: High speed traffic on a downhill, very few people at the gas station. Don't get stuck there.―DSLR

Traffic light. Limited space for stopping, but doable at red light. Lots of local traffic, might be good to get a ride to Redcliff for a better spot. Sign is very useful, TC motel has a cardboard dumpster if needed―DSLR
